• Photos: When you use the identification feature, your photo is sent to our AI service for analysis. Photos are not stored on our servers beyond the time needed to process the identification.
• Location Data: With your permission, RockScan records the location where you found each rock or mineral. This data is stored with your collection and is not shared with third parties.
• Device Identifier: We generate an anonymous device identifier to associate your collection with your device. This is not linked to your personal identity.
• Collection Data: Your identified rocks, minerals, and associated metadata (name, location, date) are stored in our database to sync your collection.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect solely to provide and improve the RockScan app experience:

• Processing rock and mineral identifications
• Storing and syncing your collection across sessions
• Tagging finds with location data on your map
• Improving identification accuracy over time

Third-Party Services

RockScan uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Cloud database for storing your collection data and anonymous device identifiers.
• AI Identification Service: Your photos are processed by an AI model to identify rocks and minerals. Photos are not retained after processing.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security practices. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your Rights

You can delete your collection data at any time by removing items within the app. If you wish to delete all data associated with your device, please contact us at the email below.

Children's Privacy

RockScan does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app can be used without providing any personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and on this page.
